BREAKING: Raiders WR Davante Adams requests trade!
Finally. 31-year-old Superstar WR Davante Adams has officially requested a trade from the Las Vegas Raiders. This request shouldn’t shock many, as it’s been coming for a long time. The Raiders and Adams never fully meshed. Adams was traded from Green Bay to Vegas in 2022 due to the contract he was seeking. Then, he was awarded a five-year, $140M contract by the Raiders, which was the most for a WR at the time. Adams signed up to play with college teammate QB Derek Carr, not QBs Gardner Minshew, Aidan O’Connell, or the disastrous Jimmy Garoppolo. He’s been sidelined with a hamstring injury he suffered in practice for the past week.
His time at Vegas will soon end with 37 games played, 221 receptions out of 382 targets, 2869 receiving yards, and 23 receiving touchdowns. The contract he signed will end in 2027, but there is an out after this season that will result in a $15M dead cap hit. Adams could be a rental, depending on what team decides to make the move to trade for him. Vegas has these teams as the most likely to land Adams: New York Jets at -200, Kansas City Chiefs at +450, Baltimore Ravens at +500, and Buffalo Bills at +600. The New Orleans Saints and Pittsburgh Steelers were mentioned as well. ESPN sources also reported that the Raiders put out feelers for an Adams trade and seek a second-round pick and additional compensation. Any team that trades for Adams would need to have $13M available in cap space, and the Jets are one of the few teams in the league that meet the requirement. The Rodgers-Adams connection was electric in Green Bay. Could the two finally be reunited in New York?
