BREAKING: The Jets fire GM Joe Douglas, it’s over

The 2025 offseason will be a complete reboot for the New York Jets as they’ve officially fired General Manager, Joe Douglas. This is following the astonishing loss to the Indianapolis Colts, story coming soon, that happened this past weekend. The Jets have already fired their Head Coach, Robert Saleh after only six games and six games later they’ve fired the man who hired him. Douglas was credited by owner, Mr. Woody Johnson, for building “the best roster we’ve had in 25 years” and now he’s being fired because that same roster is entering the bye week at 3-8. Many consider this firing as a compliment to Joe Douglas because he won’t have to sit through the final 6 weeks of the season, that is of course satire because nobody likes being unemployed. it is likely Joe will return to the Baltimore Ravens and work in the front office. It was rumored this weekend that this departure would take place after the season and he’d join Baltimore, but it looks like Mr. Johnson has decided to clean out early. Just to think that this picture would terribly age only two years later…

Douglas’ tenure with the Jets ends with a 30-64 record, clearly not the best as it is a .319 winning percentage. For example, the notorious Mike Maccagnan, who Douglas succeeded, went 24-40 with a .375 winning percentage. Before him, John Idzik finished 12-20 with a .375 winning percentage. Although they were both terrible GMs, Douglas has the worst record out of all three. His tenure in New York will be remembered in such a bittersweet way because he drafted some great players like Garrett Wilson, Will McDonald IV, Michael Carter II, Breece Hall, Jamien Sherwood and Ahmad Gardner but whiffed on players like Mekhi Becton, Zach Wilson, Denzel Mims, and so many more. It was a mixed bag with GM Joe but his time in New York ends after six seasons.. onto the next.

I’ll be releasing my top GM candidates sometime soon, many promising names available for the Jets to finally get this right.
