BREAKING: The Knicks NEAR TRADE For Karl-Anthony Towns with Timberwolves

KAT Knicks Big Three, via The Lead

BREAKING: The New York Knicks plan to trade PF/C Karl-Anthony Towns from the Minnesota Timberwolves for G Donte DiVincenzo, PF Julius Randle, and a protected first-round pick. Although the deal has been agreed upon and reported by The Athletic’s Shams Charania, nothing has been finalized through the league office. It is expected that the trade be finalized this week by both teams. They plan to add a third team; many sources have mentioned the Charlotte Hornets for cap space purposes. Yet, as of right now, everything has been speculative besides the fact that Karl-Anthony Towns may be headed to the Knicks.

This is a massive win for the Knicks as they’ve desperately needed a big man to fill in for C Isaiah Hartenstein’s 87 million dollar departure to the Oklahoma City Thunder this past offseason. This move may take the Knicks from being a deep playoff team to a championship contender. KAT will be reunited with his former T-Wolves coach, Tom Thibodeau. KAT had some of his best seasons in those three he played under Thibs’ intense game plans. He was an All-Star and an All-NBA 3rd Team player in two of those three seasons. He also had 12 rebounds each season, which were all career highs for him. He averaged 25, 24, and 21 points per game in those seasons. KAT has been under fire recently due to the criticism of his lack of effort and overall sloppy play. If anyone can produce the most out of him, it is Knicks Coach Tom Thibodeau. He’s been a magician in getting the best of our players, and I don’t see KAT regressing with Coach Thibs. It will be a very exciting season for the Knicks with Kat and Brunson. When you factor in Bridges and OG, it gets even better.

However, the Knicks traded away someone who many fans will call the glue of the team, G Donte DiVincenzo. He came through for the Knicks when the offense couldn’t get going and was somebody the fans loved. He scored 39 points in the game seven blowout loss against the Indiana Pacers in the playoffs. He was one of the only few players who showed up that afternoon. However, in this league, you must lose some good players to get a great player, and that’s exactly what the Knicks did here. They also lost Julius Randle, but it seemed both sides were due to depart sometime this season. Reports came out saying that Donte wasn’t exactly head over heels with his role on the new “Nova Knicks.” I don’t know how valid that report is, but I thought I would mention it. The last time a team made a trade like this, they won the Finals. I’m talking about the Celtics-Marcus Smart trade. He was the “glue” of that roster, and they still won. It’s also been rumored that the Knicks may be ready to move on from C Mitchell Robinson after this trade is finalized, suitors include New Orleans Pelicans. The acquisition of Karl-Anthony Towns seems to be the last piece to the puzzle as the Knicks look to make a championship run. Knick fans… get ready.
