FINALLY. The New York Liberty have defeated the Minnesota Lynx, 3-2, in the WNBA Finals. Jonquel Jones was named Finals MVP after averaging 17.8 PPV and 6.5 RPG. It was a surreal moment as the Liberty finally got over the hump. They’ve been to five WNBA finals, including their loss to the Las Vegas Aces last season, but this time, they’ve finally got the job done.

It didn’t come pretty as they won the game in overtime, 67-62. However, New York is back on top! This was a redemption season for the NY Liberty, as they got the 2023 WNBA finals loss back after defeating the Aces on the way to the Finals. And now they can call themselves champions. It was a team win as all the players came together and didn’t rely on any singular player to take over. Instead, they lifted each other and crossed the finish line together. Minnesota showed heart as F Napheesa Collier and G Kayla McBride put up over 20 pts each. It was no landslide victory for the Liberty, but they were the better team. Now, they look to build on this championship victory and create a dynasty. Some well-deserved championship DNA for young star guard Sabrina Ionescu. Congratulations to our New York Liberty!
