Game Three in Queens, Mets are split at one a piece with LA
The Mets continue to hang in there. In game one of the NLCS, it looked bleak for the Mets, a 9-0 blowout loss. It was not a pretty evening for fans. Mets pitcher Kodai Senga turned in 1.1 IP, 3 ER, 2 H, and 4 BB. It has not been the best postseason for Senga, who is still rehabbing from injuries. He just returned in July from countless right arm-related injuries stemming from his shoulder to his triceps and nerves. That same game he returned in, he strained his calf. Game one of the NLDS was his first game back from said injuries. Hopefully, Senga can return to form, as he had a promising rookie season in 2023.
However, it looked bleak for the Mets after game one. Lefty pitcher Sean Manaea provided 5 IP, 2 ER, 2 H, 4 BB, and 7 Ks, but that was all after 3B Mark Vientos sent a moonshot grand slam in the second inning to give the Mets an overwhelming 6-0 lead. The Mets have mastered the art of grand slams. They would finish that game with an Edwin Diaz save and split the road games in LA.
The Mets enter the homestand in Queens with a great deal of momentum. I expect them to come through. These fans deserve it. Luis Severino and Jose Quintana will be on the bump for games three and four. It’s an exciting time for New York fans…
