Yankees win game two, only Two games away from world series
Was there ever a doubt? The Yankees take a 2-0 lead on the Guardians in the ALCS. Dominant wins by the Yankees in the Bronx. Lefty pitcher Carlos Rodon got his groove back and held it down with 6 IP, 1 ER, 3 H, and 9 Ks in game one to lead the Yanks to a 5-2 victory. It was an electric game one for the Bronx Bombers as we saw Juan Soto hit his first postseason Yankee homerun and Giancarlo Stanton continue his playoff dominance with a homerun.
The Yankees had all the momentum going into game two, especially with Ace Gerrit Cole on the bump. He didn't have his best stuff but delivered 4.1 IP, 2 ER, 6 H, 4 BB, and 4 Ks. The Yankee bullpen kept it together as Tim Hill and Clay Holmes, among others, shut down any Guardians offense. It was a very impressive home stand from the Yankees. We got to see MVP Aaron Judge break the ice and bring home some more insurance runs with a two-run blast. Judge had three RBIs on the night. Could the Yankee Captain be on the cusp of a hot streak?
The Yanks head to Cleveland for a three-game stretch, and they hope to return to the Bronx with the AL Pennant. They could easily do that; this team has been unlike any other Yankee team since 2017. The starting pitching is consistent, the bullpen has done a phenomenal job, and the offense is rolling. There's nothing to complain about with the Yankees thus far this postseason. The addition of Rizzo has been incredible, I did not expect him to come out looking like that off the IL. I'd replace Wells, who's batting poorly at the cleanup spot, with Rizzo. This team has not allowed the Guardians to take the lead on them in games one and two. Only time will tell if the road stretch will be more of the same. Clarke Schmidt and Luis Gil will be on the bump for games three and four. Gil hasn't seen the bump this postseason and will make his first start. This team feels special, but only time will tell.
Game Three in Cleveland.
